10 Winter Gardening Tips

2 minute read

Since summer is on its way out and we’re creeping ever closer to Autumn and Winter, there’s no better time than to prep how you’re going to take care of your garden this winter. If you’re a keen gardener and you’re looking for some great tips in advance, then delve into the post below! Don’t forget to spruce up your garden with some great furniture too!

Frost - Try to protect your garden from frost as best you can, this will keep the plants from freezing over!

Wildlife - Think of the wildlife and look after them in colder months, consider a hedgehog hut or a place for foxes to sleep. Place this away from your crops so they don’t get tempted.

Soil - Loosen the soil if it’s frozen, this will help your plants to continue growing!

Leaves - Get rid of any lingering leaves that might still be left over from the autumn months!

Greenhouse - If you’ve not yet got one, try getting yourself a greenhouse to better protect your crops from pesky animals!

Crops - Consider the type of crops you’re going to grow and choose plants that thrive in cold and frosty weather!

Birds - Remember to feed the birds, since the ground is frozen, they’ll be struggling to find food for themselves.

Clear snow and ice - Make sure you clear the snow and ice from your plants, this will only hinder the growing process.

Keep a journal - Keeping track of your plants and their progress in winter is vital if you want to keep them growing at a good pace.

Pace - Plants often grow slower in the cold, so if your crops aren’t quite ready yet, don’t worry, they’re getting there!

These are all of our tips, happy gardening!
