10 Ways To Be An Eco Friendly Gardener

2 minute read

Gardening is a great way to get outside and ensure you’re getting some much-needed fresh air. It helps the environment and helps you! If you’re looking to take it one step further, then we have you covered. We have some great ways you can be eco-friendly whilst you’re gardening! Grab your favourite tools and dive in!

Apple Cider - Put equal amounts of apple cider vinegar and sugar in an old plastic bottle. Put some sliced banana peel in the bottle and some water and give it a shake. This ensures insects stay away from your shed!

Slugs - Slugs love a good slurp of beer. Put out some plastic containers in your garden with a bit of booze in each of them. You will find next morning that it is last orders for the slugs. What a great way to go!

Hedgehogs - Create a wood pile from your cuttings. Wild places like this are a great place for our spiky friends to call home. They will then help to act as a natural bouncer for your garden and make sure any undesirables do not cause trouble.

Butterflies - By bringing birds and butterflies as well as other wildlife into your garden, you will be attracting natural predators for the pests you wish to exterminate.

Compost - Compost is a fantastic way to reduce waste whilst also helping the environment in the process.

Grow - Grow your own food, this can then be used in salads, fruit bowls and in other great dishes.

Trees - We all know trees are fantastic for the environment, they let out oxygen which of course we need. Plant one in your garden and help the Earth!

Water - Grab yourself a water butt and conserve water, this can then be used to water plants at a later stage.

Materials - Choose eco-friendly materials. Stay away from single-use plastic and if it’s unavoidable, try and find another use for it after!

Recycle - Don’t forget to recycle, this is a fantastic way to reduce your waste and help save the planet by helping plastic to avoid the sea.

They’re all of our great tips! Happy gardening!
