The strimmer/bush cutter is a great machine, powerful motor, easey to start and changing the heads is very easey, to reload the strimmer head only takes a few minuits and you can see how things ars done by downloading the how to do the various things from their web site, A great peice of kit.

Great piece of kit!

Inexpensive, but really useful piece of equipment. The brush cutter does not run as fast as my old strimmer/brushcutter, but for the price, it's well worth he money.

It cuts through weeds etc . like a hot knife through butter. Really pleased with it.

You get what you pay for!

Ahhh the trueshopping Petrol brush-cutter, My arch nemesis. For the last 10 years I have worked as a Horticultural Technician. In other words I repair and service all types and makes of garden machinery. Over the years I have gained at least some idea of what is good and whats not, these machines however NOT good. The vast Majority of these machines that I see will not start or run or have parts missing. They have nasty problems with their inlet manifolds vibrating loose or carburetors not being adjusted properly out of the factory. So in my professional opinion these machines are cheap, plasticy and break as soon as you look at them. I would recomend either Castor, Tanaka, Stihl, Echo or Honda anything but these.

complaint

I have only used this item 3 times due to ill health and the third time was very recent and when i started using it, it started to smoke very dangerously, so i went through all the troubleshooting checking the mix of the petrol and the rest of the procedures but it was still smoking dangerously,i am very annoyed that i have only had use for a limited time after paying so much you would exspect it to last more than 3 uses. Very annoyed Mrs C Bevan.

Purchase of 49cc petrol strimmer.

I was very pleased with quality of the unit, had a little trouble understanding assembly instructions,as they mentioned colour arrows but instructions were in black and white. However once assembled and petrol mix was added(found mixing bottle a godsend)the motor started and never missed a beat.Had a little trouble with the line feed but I think that was because line was crossed in strimmer head, otherwise very pleased with unit.Wished I had purchased split shaft option instead of having to change between strimmer and brush cutter

Heavy duty petrol grass strimmer brush cutter49cc

Bought one last year used for two hours put it away got out couple of weeks ago and wouldn't start after buying new plug we have got it running however have found fuel tank has leak

great value, works well

by |

Strimmer works well and half the price of same unit in shops.

Grass Trimmer

by |

Trimmer works well. Appears good quality. However, the instructions on assembly appear to be written in Vulcan. Terrible explanations and spelling mistakes. Got me very worried during the hours it took me to work it all out.In summery, a good product devalued by the awful assembly instructions.

great tool easy to put together started 2nd pull

by |

easy to put together and no screws left over! started easily and does the job really pleased wish I had bought one sooner.

Instructions are hard to follow

by |

Just spent a frustrating evening putting this tool together. Pictures in manual are poorly reproduced so it is hard to see what is going on (choke control is invisible in pictures and on machine - if you have to work this one out for yourself). Rather laughably there are no instructions as to how to attached the engine to the shaft! The pictures on replacing the strimmer line refer to yellow and green arrows but as the pictures are in black and white so these make no sense at all. Once I got it working however the strimmer worked fine and is quicker and more effective than my old electric strimmer. Have not used the brush cutter yet but it looks the business. Overall happy with the purchase. The throttle control is the only part that looks or feels cheap.

Can anybody help please ,as soon as the throttle is increased from idle ,motor stops , then cannot start at all, hasnt been worked anything like hard , its 3 yrs old , ive checked the usual things ,plug ,fuel mix. My local mower repair shop didnt want to look at it, saying he couldnt get the parts, i see from the reviews , there is a parts dept .

Good product - rubbish manual

by |

Incomprehensible manual, English must have come from a software translation package - illustrations no use whatsoever; fortunately I have some experience with assembling machinery so got it set up eventually. Product is excellent.

very good value

by |

this is very very good value machine - doesn't seem at all shoddy and starts very easily and is well balanced and adjustable. Not tiring to use. you have to put it together which is not difficult if you a bit 'diy'y but if you not you might struggle - you need an extra spanner not just the one supplied and there are a few bits left over and some of the washers wont fit due to lack of space round where they shoud go on the guard but I'm sure they ok without - they have nylock nuts. The manual is ok but a bit disjointed and the bit where you put the engine on is not there but its obvious. The numbering of bits in relation to the diagrams is wrong or I dont get it - but its all ok to do without the manual so long as you a bit practical. The cutter blade makes the machine shake unhealthily but the strimmer is excellent - there is a right and wrong way round to fit the blade but you cant tell which is correct till you see the direction of spin when its fired up. I'm very glad I bought it. .

This machine is fit for purpose

straight forward assembly and started second attempt. Immediately put to use on heavy vegetation and cut well. Removal, filling and re-fitting line spool relatively simple task. Would benefit from provision of second spool to facilitate change-over.

Petrol Grass Strimmer Brush Cutter 49cc 1.5KW /

by |

Delivered in two days, looks like its American made since it refers to petrol as Gasoline. I was informed by the hire shop who deal with strimmers when i went to purchase the oil to keep the mixing bottle safe, since in this country the mix is normally 50:1 and 25:1 was a strange mix and that it might be a problem when mixing small amounts. Not to impressed with the black handles or the guard - all looks and feels very very cheap, compared to the strimmers i hired from the hire shops, which were comfortable and felt strong and sturdy. The mixing bottle also feels cheap and will not last very long, and also looks like you will have to mix the bottle a couple of times to fill the strimmer tank (a bit of a pain). The instructions were not very clear re the fixing of the guard. the diagrams were blurry. That's what you get from manuals which have been copied time after time. The winding of the strimmer wire instructions were also very confusing. The proof will be in the cutting, will keep you posted how i got on. PS Does anybody know if 50:1 mixture can be used - i would think not since it could be to rich.

Not useful at the moment

Cannot give a true review yet as we are having problems getting it started. Both myself and my husband have made numerous attempts at ignition and have followed the manual instructions to the letter 't' as far as we know. As yet we are awaiting a call from a technician to hopefully help us out, which won't be until next week. Apart from that, it seems a sturdy tool.

does what it says on the tin

by |

Took a little time to build and must admit the instructions are not to clear, could do with being better but once built filled with petrol started 3rd pull and has been used few times now normally starts 1st or 2nd pull cuts well bit difficult refilling spool but maybe there is a simpler way and I'm not doing it correctly but otherwise excellent buy solid workhorse my garden is about 1/3 acre so it has done some work and still going strong.

a good buy for the money

by |

the self-assembly was no problem using the tools provided. once running, it clears a very unkempt lawn (12 inch high grass). My only problem is getting it started, since I am obviously not an intuitive 2-stroke user, and I mess about for ages trying all sorts of choke settings. But if you have that cracked, in use the machine is a brute on your lawn.

GREAT VALUE FOR A ROBUST MACHINE

by |

THE ASSEMBLY WAS NOT TOO DIFFICULT AND FOUND IT INTERESTING AS THE STRIMMER TOOK SHAPE. THE MANUAL WAS A LITTLE INCORRECT IN PARTS, FOR EXAMPLE IT WOULD SAY TURN CLOCKWISE WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ANTICLOCKWISE BUT IT WAS A MINOR THING. IT IS A VERY ROBUST MACHINE. PUT 25.1 MIX IN TANK AND IT STARTED AFTER THIRD PULL. NOT SURE YET HOW LONG TO KEEP IT ON 25.1 MIX AS BOOKLET SAYS 40.1 HAVE USED IT AND IT CUTS THROUGH LONG GRASS AND WEEDS AS IF THEY WERE NOT THERE. HAD TO ADJUST TICKOVER SCREW AS INSTRUCTED AFTER ABOUT HALF AN HOUR AS MOTOR STARTED TO RUN A LITTLE FAST AS IT BEGAN TO RUN IN. ONE LITTLE TIP IS TO GET THE SHOULDER STRAP ADJUSTED TO FIT YOURSELF SO AS TO BALANCE THE STRIMMER AND IT ALMOST FLOATS JUST ABOVE THE GROUND WITH VERY LITTLE EFFORT AND AM SURE THAT IN TIME WILL HELP REDUCE FATIGE. I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THIS PRODUCT AND IT HAS BEEN BETTER THAN I EXPECTED FOR THE MONEY.

small problem quickly rectified

Purchased this for an overgrown allotment I have just taken on, easy to put together but when tried to start nothing, after checking main thing like spark etc I noticed the carb mounting bracket had a crack in it, I took off the carb and the bracket fell off in 2 bits, I phoned Trueshopping customer services and they where extremely helpful and sent out the part which arrived the next day, I fitted the new part and the strimmer started 2nd pull. I am please with the item and the price and excellent customer service.
